Our Curriculum

Re-learning a first language can be difficult for many of us. In this course, we will enjoy discovering the Korean language together and exploring what Koreanness means to us. From learning Hangul, the Korean alphabet, to introducing yourself in Korean, this first class will help prepare the way.

Level 1:
Preparing the Way 2
Knowing Hangul prepared you to walk on the first stepping stones. This course teaches you how to express appreciation and engage in simple conversations to enhance your listening and speaking skills.

Level 2:
Building the Bridge 1
When ready, let’s build the bridge with core material, including essential grammar, which helps you confidently and actively engage in simple dialogue. This course will introduce language for suggesting a coffee date, meet-up, or checking in with family members.

Level 2:
Building the Bridge 2
To use these core materials together, you must know where to place them and how to build a bridge. This course helps you understand Korean sentence structure and basic grammar to begin to tell your life stories in Korean

Level 3:
Crossing the Bridge 1
It’s natural to feel unprepared or scared when crossing an unfamiliar bridge to reach the other side. We will walk with you. This course will introduce you to understanding Korean language contexts, becoming familiar with various nuances, and communicating with Korean speakers comfortably. Also, you will begin writing stories starting with sentences and growing to paragraphs by the end of the course

Level 3:
Crossing the Bridge 2
You’re almost ready to cross the bridge. You need to check your safety gear, confirm the directions, and plan what to do once you get to the other side. In this course, you will learn how to converse in various situations. The uniqueness of this course is that the learners will be asked to share their goals and the specific situations in which they want to learn to converse. The instructor will design the curriculum to meet the needs of each learner throughout the course
